Democratic National Committee
P.O. Box 96585
Washington, D.C. 20077

Dear Committee:

A pensioner, I receive almost weekly solicitations for money from the DNC. Normally, I have been inclined to see what is in the piggy bank. However, I must let you know that I am becoming reluctant to contribute to the Party’s general money pot these days. It is not that you are not on the right side of issues – I know you are mainly. But: Where are you? What are you doing?

With the exception of Cory Booker and a few others, including Bernie Sanders and LaMonica McIver, the Democratic opposition seems invisible and silent. Other organizations, such as ACLU, Indivisible, and VoteVets are very active, organizing petitions, demonstrations, and filing lawsuits. I know you are voting on issues – but this is not an issue-by-issue situation; rather, this is a concerted authoritarian effort to take down democracy and our good government programs, and it must be treated as such. It is an emergency, not political business as usual.

Where was the party when President Zelenskyy was insulted and bullied by two goons in the Oval Office? Why did not top party leaders travel to Ukraine after, to offer not only support, but an apology on behalf of the American public for his abominable treatment? Where was the party when Trump was threatening annexation of Canada and Greenland, and ruining relationships with Europe? Where was the party when hacks and incompetents (like RFK Jr.), or dangerously unqualified people like Hegseth (Defense), and Noem (Homeland Security) – the latter does not even know what “habeas corpus” is – were installed in key positions? Where is the party now, as agencies established by acts of Congress, are systematically disassembled?

No! It will not do. You must stand up and fight! You must have a clear plan that we can all understand, and communicate it to us, on issues that people care about: immigration, migration and border control; the economy and wealth disparity; climate and the environment; fighting the rampant institutionalized racism and discrimination of this administration, fighting for science and knowledge; protecting centers of learning, protecting democracy, the courts. the rule of law. and good government. What is your plan? What are you going to do? We, the people, can stop this, with your help and leadership.

I repeat: it is an emergency. Stand up! Fight! Show us the money!

Yours truly,

Peter Scott Cameron

  1. Since it’s an open letter, I’m hoping you’ll be ok with knowing I cut, pasted and printed so I could also send it off to the DNC. My thought exactly, and so well said.

BOO HISS: Cory Booker fell hard off his pedestal this week when he decided to be the only Dem to support Charles Kushner’s ambassadorship to France. Kushner is not only Jared’s father, but a skank in his own right.
HIP HIP HOORAY: Monica McIver represents my district!

    • Thanks, Mary. As I said in my note, use and borrow at will!
Unfortunate news about Cory. Why, Cory, why?
I am jealous that you have McIver as your rep — sure would like to trade in ours (Stefanik).
